We have been busy behind the scenes for the last few weeks recruiting freelance experts and planning the activities for our project Coins and Crosses: Seeking the Anglo-Saxons in Winfarthing and Waveney.
The first project activities took place on 17th June 2026, with Suffolk Artlink running creative workshops for residents at De Lucy House in Diss and Oak Lodge in Attleborough.

Taking inspiration from the Winfarthing finds the first session focused on people's favourite places and the stories behind them.
There was some really lovely feedback on this first session, including:
‘I hated history at school - it never came across to me - but this morning made me think more about the whole environment, it brought it alive to me.’
Over the coming months there will also be creative sessions for the public at designermakers21 in Diss, a Heritage Open Day in Winfarthing, a series of talks, and more.
Coins and Crosses: Seeking the Anglo-Saxons in Winfarthing and Waveney is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we will be able to connect local communities with our Anglo-Saxon history.
