The Real Manhunter
Saturday 11th July 2026
Doors open 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start
Gissing Community Building
In this talk, Colin Sutton will explore the ever-evolving aspect of science vs investigation in policing. With younger detectives never having known a world without forensic DNA, what impact has that had on the way crimes are investigated? Is there a “best” way to carry out an investigation and what are the repercussions when one side fails?
This show will offer a unique insight into how teams of detectives look for evidence, what they do with it, and how the outcome of a trial doesn’t always match what is presented to a court of law. Colin will discuss specific cases and how investigations were taken in different directions depending on the evidence available.
Colin Sutton is a former Metropolitan Police detective who came to public prominence by leading the investigations into several high profile cases such as Levi Bellfield and 'Night Stalker' Delroy Grant. Following his retirement from the police in 2011 Colin began to write about his experiences.
The evening will consist of two halves of approximately 70 minutes each with a 30 minute interval.
