We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded funding of £45,268 by The National Lottery Heritage Fund for our project Coins and Crosses: Seeking the Anglo-Saxons in Winfarthing and Waveney.
This project aims to raise awareness and deepen a sense of local connection to the previously unknown Anglo-Saxon history of Winfarthing. Since the discovery of the grave of the Winfarthing lady in 2015, the local community has been keen to learn more about her and the world she lived in. This project will enable us to bring in experts to help us understand, explore, and celebrate this heritage.
The project will include…
A series of talks about the Anglo-Saxon archaeological finds in Winfarthing and the wider regional context
Creative workshops open to the public, delivered by designermakers21 in Diss
Filmmaking workshops for young people, led by The Offshoot Foundation
Creative sessions in residential settings for older people and young adults with learning difficulties
The installation of a digital kiosk in St Mary’s Church in Winfarthing, with an interactive display telling the story of the Winfarthing lady
A Heritage Open Day event
A learning resource for primary school pupils

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported WASP so far and helping us get to this point.
